DESCRIPTION

We live in an appearance conscious society where everyone strives to look as attractive as possible. We push beyond nature's gifts to the ultimate commitment of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. We live in a fast paced, competitive time where people tend to make snap judgments based on appearance. How we look and how we feel we look is an important determining factor in our self-worth. Our appearance, whether positive or negative, has a direct effect on our business, personal and social life. Because of this social attitude, the psychosocial ramification of facial disfigurement can have a tremendous negative impact on a person's self-esteem.

Learn to work with Physicians, Surgeons, Dermatologists and other Medical Specialists on the highest professional level. You will learn about consulting, designing, instructing and counseling in makeup and skin care, for post-operative cosmetic surgery patients, reconstructive surgery patients, trauma victims and people with congenital skin discolorations...the ultimate makeup illusions.

The field of Medical Cosmetic Techniques is a relatively new area in the field of "Makeup". It was born out of the need of Aesthetic Surgery Patients to conceal those minor discolorations that normally follow most cosmetic surgery procedures; it grew into helping people with birthmarks, cleft lip, scars, vitiligo, chloasma, lupus, accident victims, dog bites, trauma, burn survivors, etc.

Whether the client is a patient recovering from elective aesthetic surgery who wants to feel better about themselves and get back to work sooner, or a facially disfigured person looking to re-enter and blend into the mainstream of life, the psychotherapeutic impact of Medical Cosmetic Techniques is undeniable. It's this capacity to help people face the world again that makes Medical Cosmetic Techniques such a meaningful service as an adjunct for the medical field.

This advanced course with intensive theory and hands-on experience for the professional who wants to expand their career into the vastly rewarding field of the Medical Cosmetic Specialist. This course is for those who will be working as an ancillary service to the medical profession by attending to the cosmetic needs of the medically referred client. The therapeutic impact of cosmetic techniques is undeniable. It is the Normalizing and Psychotherapeutic quality of this discipline that makes this course such a meaningful art and science.

This course is intended for those individuals who evaluate, design, apply, instruct and counsel patients who have been referred for makeup and skin care as the result of post-operative aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery; who are trauma victims, those who have facial congenital problems, disease caused skin discoloration's and other medically referred needs.

It is designed for those individuals that will have the responsibility of providing this adjunct service for the patients of Physicians, Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists, Ophthalmologists, Psychiatrists and other Medical Professionals.

The course should be of interest to Physicians, Nurses, Medical Office Personnel, Occupational Therapists, Recreational, Cosmeticians, Aestheticians, and Cosmetologists.
